Whew! This International Fake Journal Month is quite the challenge – mostly to make time to sketch and draw daily. It is complicated by how much fun I am having learning about what I have chosen to sketch, which is feeding my fake journal entries. So, I plan to upload every spread, but I seem to only have time to polish and post on the weekends, so it may not be so much a daily update as it will be several updates on the same day.
I’d also like to shout out to my friend Valerie Stein – a woman of many talents whose most recent focus is writing. She went to the Camino with me. An unexpected benefit of this adventure was this accidental plan to have simultaneous journeys along the same path. You might like to keep up with her on The Best Of It, her blog.
Also, since I am not actually able to go to the Camino, I have to rely on photographic references. You will see those on my journal pages, so that the original photographers get credit.
Here’s my first day’s entry. If you click the photo, it gets large enough to read.

I love Lyon. Literally known as the Capitol of Gastrome. Where did you eat? Surely there is a sketch of good French food in your future. 😉
Ha! I’m eating bread and cheese, of course. Hmmmmm….a food sketch….sounds delicious!
This looks like a fun trip for a fake journal. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.

[…] My inclination at first was to do lots of research about the area, find out what the native plants likely are, immerse myself in the cultural history. Instead, though, I’ve decided that some days I’ll let a photo from our trail be my writing prompt for the day. Other days, I’ll use Google Earth’s Walking Man as Lisa plans to, to look around and choose something to write about. So let’s go – the journey with a friend begins. […]
